INDIANAPOLIS — A severe weather alert has been issued, set to take effect this afternoon.
Central Indiana is experiencing an enhanced risk level of 3 out of 5, indicating a serious potential for severe weather conditions. WRTV Meteorologists warn that afternoon storms may reach severe limits, with damaging winds being the primary concern.
In addition to the threat of high winds, residents should be prepared for localized heavy rain, which could lead to flooding in certain areas. Furthermore, isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out as the storms develop.
The time frame for severe weather this afternoon will be from 2 to 10 p.m. tonight.

5:22 p.m.
Hendricks County Emergency Management confirms there have been several small fires in various places around the county after trees fell on power lines and caught on fire. EMS is unaware of any property damage in the county. The power companies and fire departments are working together to turn the power off in those areas. 50-60 mile per hour winds at the peak of the storm. At this time, there are no reports of any injuries from the storm

5:00 p.m.
Around 5 p.m., strong storms brought down a large tree in the southbound lanes of I-65 on the northwest side near West 82nd Street.
4:30 p.m.
A Tornado WARNING has been issued for Boone, Hendricks, and Marion Counties until 4:45 p.m.
4:10 p.m.
A severe thunderstorm WARNING has been issued for the following counties:
Monroe, Morgan, Owen, Greene, Brown until 4:45 p.m.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office posted a video of the storm on social media.
3:54 p.m.
A Tornado WARNING has been issued Cass, Fulton until 4:15 p.m.
2:35 p.m.
A Tornado WARNING has been issued for several western Indiana counties, including Vermillion, Parke, Fountain and Edgar until 3:15 p.m.

A TORNADO WATCH has been issued for our area until 8 P.M. A "watch" means that conditions are favorable for tornadoes to form, so it's important to have a way to get alerts this afternoon and evening and to know your severe weather action plan. 10 a.m.
Early Wednesday, storms on Indy's southside caused power outages and damage.

In the Beech Grove area, WRTV viewers caught damage including downed trees and a trampoline on a roof.

Thousands of residents faced power outages. According to the AES outage map, nearly 3,000 homes on the south side of Indianapolis were without electricity, while Duke Energy had over 600 without power, also on the south side.
